It’s been a while since Samsung unveiled something in terms of tablet products, but this weekend, the Korean tech giant rolled out the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 models, which mark the company’s thinnest slates to date.

The newcomers feature a 5.6 mm / 0.22 inch frame and weigh 265g / 0.58 lbs and 389g / 0.85 lbs, respectively. Now, let’s see what the tablets offer in terms of specs.

Both models come with a Super AMOLED display with 1536 x 2048 pixel resolution and draw life from an octa-core CPU with four cores running at 1.9GHz and the other four running at 1.3GHz.

The duo boasts 3GB of RAM inside along with 32GB/64GB of internal storage, and those who require more in terms of storage can upgrade up to 128GB via microSD card slot.

Moving on, the new tablets come with an 8MP main camera plus a 2.1MP front-facing shooter and Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. Samsung is prepping the Android 5.0.2 Lollipop update for the duo, which will probably be rolled out soon.

Pumping power into the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 is a 4,000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is kept alive by a 5,870 mAh powerhouse.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 might appeal to professionals too

Just like the Galaxy S6, the two Galaxy Tab S2 models come with a touch-enabled fingerprint scanner built into the home button. On top of that, Samsung aims to cater to the needs of users who want to use the slates for productivity.

With this in mind, the two tablets allow users to run apps at the same time and the Pop-Up Windows feature gives future owners of the Galaxy Tab 2 the ability to switch between multiple apps.

We should also mention that the Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 and 9.2 will be offered in Wi-Fi versions or with both Wi-Fi and 4G LTE connectivity.

If you find that one of the two tablets will fit into your life style, you should know that the Galaxy Tab S2 duo should make it out into retail next month (August). We currently don’t know anything about their US prices, but in Europe the slates will be available with the following price tags attached:

Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 Wi-Fi: €399 / $433

Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 LTE: €469 / $509

Galaxy Tab S2 9.2 Wi-Fi: €499 / $541

Galaxy Tab S2 9.2 LTE: €569 / $€617
